What is XyliMelts and what is it used for?
XyliMelts are oral lozenges containing xylitol, a natural sweetener, that adhere to the gums (or mucous membrane) to stimulate saliva flow. The slow release of active ingredients will hydrate the mouth and provide hours of comfort and relief from the symptoms of persistent dry mouth.
Its safe and tailored formula allows for day and night use to stimulate saliva. Resulting in a moist and comfortable mouth, allowing you to speak, eat and drink more easily and hopefully sleep uninterrupted (without that persistent need to drink water).
XyliMelts uses adhesive lozenge technology to slowly release 550 mg of xylitol, which is most effective when released continuously and remains in the mouth, especially when used during sleep when saliva flow is lower.
The mild mint flavor freshens breath and xylitol may reduce the risk of tooth decay. XyliMelts last for hours:
4 to 8 hours during nighttime use
2 to 4 hours during daytime use
What makes Xylimelts so effective against dry mouth?
The main ingredient is xylitol, a naturally sweet carbohydrate found in raspberries, corn, oats, and other plants. Xylitol cannot be digested by the harmful bacteria in the mouth that cause cavities, gum disease, and infections. Furthermore, when xylitol remains in the mouth, it stimulates saliva and can reduce the risk of tooth decay.
Clinical studies suggest that we can maximize the benefits of xylitol by slowly releasing a continuous concentration of xylitol into the mouth. To achieve this with common xylitol lozenges, we would need to consume 6 to 9 lozenges per day and still lose essential hours of sleep. XyliMelts helps solve this problem using “sticky pill” technology that releases the right concentration of xylitol over time – meaning hours of relief for dry mouth as the tablet/lozenge coats, hydrates and increases saliva flow, especially during sleep when dry mouth is most noticeable.
